Adding Observations After a Meeting

Observations capture what you saw with each student - the strengths they showed, the challenges they hit, and any other notes worth keeping. They feed into the student’s record so anyone reviewing later can see what’s been happening.

What Counts as an Observation

  • Strengths and challenges are logged on a weekly cadence, per student. They give a rolling picture of what each student is doing well and where they’re getting stuck.
  • Notes are freeform and can be logged any time. Use them for anything that doesn’t fit the strengths or challenges shape - context for next week, a question to follow up on, a parent communication, and so on.

For freeform per-student notes outside the meeting flow, see Adding a Note About a Student.

Where to Log Observations

There are three places observations live, all writing to the same record:

  • At the end of a meeting (primary path). When you wrap up a meeting, you’re prompted to log observations as part of the close. This is the easiest moment to capture what’s still fresh.
  • From your Dashboard schedule. On a past meeting, you’ll see Observations: Complete Now on the right side. Click it to log observations for that meeting after the fact. See Your Daily Schedule on the Dashboard for how to navigate to past days.
  • From the student or group page. Open the student or the group directly and add observations there. Helpful when you want to log notes that aren’t tied to a single meeting.

Editing Observations You Already Saved

Once observations are saved, the meeting on your schedule shows Observations: ✅ View. Click View to reopen the form and make changes. Saving again replaces what was there.
